In a plumbing emergency, you first shut off the main valve. After that, the next thought is, “Now what? Who do I call?” In panic, searching phones, old bills or random numbers wastes time.
If you keep a small label or sticker near the main valve with the contact of a trusted plumber (or two), you’ve already solved half the problem. Anyone in the house – spouse, older child, tenant – can shut off water and immediately call for help, even if you’re not home.
When systems are clearly marked and supported with information, crises become much less chaotic.
- How can watching water colour when you first run a tap tell you if pipes need attention?
- How can installing a simple hose tap near balconies or utility areas make cleaning easier?
- Why is it better not to pour cooking oil and grease straight into kitchen drains?
- How can checking under sinks for tiny drops or stains catch leaks before they grow?
